Too much fluid.Only fill with small amounts at a time.If the wick is more than 1/2 long trim it back with sharp sizzors You probably got the flint wet with fluid let it dry out and maybe pull the flint and dry it off

  • dbHARMes says:

Your Zippo lighter should have a wind guard screen around the wick and the wick should not extend above that screen. Also, you should not use anything but genuine cigarette lighter FLUID to fill the packing in the storage chamber to just the noticable MOIST degree.

  • OGRastam says:

    Two possible solutions:
    1. Less or more evenly distributed fluid.
    2. Shorter wick.

  • Austin T Powers says:

If you get fluid on the flint , it won’t strike , other than that shorten the wick too.

  • Tomcat says:

You may have overfilled it. Any extra should evaporate shortly.

  • Mother knows best! says:

turn the little wheel on the side to adjust the flame.
