69 T&c Zippo Lighter-aircraft Carrier Uss Oriskany-mib Picture(s) and Description:

'69 T&C Zippo Lighter Aircraft Carrier USS Oriskany MIB This colorful and MINT Town and Country slim Zippo was made in 1969 for the US Aircraft Carrier USS Oriskany, CVA 34. It was given by its Commander, Captain J.S. Kenyon, as is evidenced by the engraving on the lighters back. (Very likely given to a dignitary who visited the ship.) This mighty ship started her long career defending our Nation shortly after World War II. Her service included duty during the Korean War and extensive involvement in Vietnam. (when this Vietnam Service Zippo was made.) I have included a picture of her with planes on deck stemming in the Western Pacific for operations in Vietnam what a sight! During her long service she had various nicknames: Mighty O, the O boat, and the Toasted O.

This fantastic lighter features a picture of the ship as an aircraft would see her looking back, just after being lunched of her deck and a group of 4 aircraft flying over her in formation. The picture is done in Zippos rare Paint on Paint technology, known as the Town and Country. Since this process is done by hand, no two T & C lighters are exactly the same! To find one of this seldom seen Town and Country Naval Zippos in any condition is great, but to find one that is absolutely MINT is an extra rare occurrence. (most sailors smoked and would have used their prized Zippo!) This one has never been fueled or fired. It has the original insert, the flint tube is clear and is complete with its original Flame Box.
